Dec. Annual Mtg. Overview
Nearly 40 members attended the meeting at Orchard Vali G.C..Matt Simon and Steve Kurta were elected to the Bd. of Dir. Pres. Scot Winkelman reviewed highlights of the year and a general discussion followed. The subject that dominated was the proper reporting of water usage. IT MAY BE A BIT OF A PAIN, BUT IT'S NOT GOING TO GO AWAY. WE HAVE TO COMPLY OR RISK NASTY FINES. If you couldn't make it you missed an excellent buffet.
Last January we had a great time at our first ever "Bowling Mtg", so we are going to do it again Jan 19th at Liverpool lanes. Details will follow, but do plan on it because it's a hoot!
CNYGCSA General Meeting 12/15/15
Scott W. started meeting with year in review discussion. Year started w/ snow blowing greens in March and hasn't ended yet. Difficulties w/ moving to different course not knowing issues with the course. Equipment problems, crabgrass, etc caught him by surprise. Recommends using clean sweep www.cleansweepny.com to clear out old chemicals.
Bob Marshall started discussion on water permits and water withdrawal reports. These are two separate applications both needing to be completed. Engineering costs ranging from $3,600-$4,800. Failure to comply will likely lead to fines. If the golf course has the ability to pump over 100,000 gallons per day then reporting is required. If buying municipal water, reporting is not necessary. Contact for info is Erik Schmitt 518.402.8171. Suggest contacting NYSTA, state Senators and Representatives with concerns.
Scott discussed GCSAA strategic planning assistance coming up soon.
Annual reporting complete to GCSAA and annual renewal completed.
Ash Gough attended GCSAA annual meeting in October.
Scott reviewed board members names and affiliations. New nominees Matt Simon and Steve Kurta. No nominees were presented from the floor. Matt & Steve were voted and approved as new board members.
Ash explained new classification levels and certification requirements. New class 'M' added for mechanics. www.gcsaa.org is excellent resource for information.
Scott reviewed meeting schedule. January 19 bowling meeting at Lakeview in Liverpool. Late February meeting with Rod Ferrentino. June at Cornell. POA late August, October skeet shoot?
Ash discussed "Rounds for Research" suggesting clubs make donations of golf rounds. Auction raises money for research and for the association (CNYGCSA). Great opportunity to bid on rounds at courses all over the country that are typically difficult to get on.
Jim Peters thanks all those that helped support Flo's Tournament.
